Our Brand Story

From Ekpoma. For the present. The founder grew up watching her father carry a culture he rarely spoke about. Esan heritage lived quietly — in posture, discipline, and restraint — but not in clothing, not in daily life. Over time, she noticed something deeper: Ekpoma was forgetting itself. Igbulu, once a cloth of honor, had been reduced to memory. So she asked a simple question: What if heritage wasn’t reserved for ceremonies? What if it could be worn every day? ILOËSAN is the answer.

Our Story

THE FABRIC

Igbulu — a living fabric.
Igbulu is a traditional Esan textile historically worn for rites, respect, and recognition. It carried status, dignity, and belonging. ILOËSAN works with authentic Igbulu — preserving its integrity while reshaping its function. We do not print culture. We construct with it. Each garment holds weight — not because it is heavy, but because it means something.

WHO WE DESIGN FOR

ILOËSAN is for: Esan and Edo people reconnecting with their roots Nigerians who want depth beyond trends The global Black diaspora seeking grounded expression Anyone drawn to culture with substance You don’t need to be from Ekpoma to wear ILOËSAN. You just need respect for origin.
